Board of Directors

Jeffrey Wheeler, President & co-sponsor of the April 2006 meeting with the Hanover Co-op. Jeff is the owner of the Village Book Store in Littleton which also houses the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen. Jeff's business background includes serving as Managing Director at Moody's and at Chase Manhattan. His earlier career included serving as a consultant for Booz, Allen & Hamilton. Jeff has a PhD from Columbia University and an undergraduate from Dartmouth. Jeffrey lives in Lyman, NH.

Michael Claflin, Vice President & co-sponsor of the April 2006 meeting with the Hanover Co-op. Mike serves as Regional Vice President for Connecticut River Bank where he oversees the bank's activities throughout Northern New Hampshire. He has a long history of serving on local boards and organizations. Mike graduated in Business Administration from Castleton State College. Michael lives in Lyndonville, VT.

Kimberly Butler, Secretary is a Director at Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC. She practices law in both NH and Vermont with a focus on Corporate and Commercial law. Kim has served on many local boards and associations. She is currently President of AHEAD. Her JD is from Villanova University School of Law with an undergraduate from Dartmouth. Kimberly lives in Lyndonville, VT.

Mark Secord, Treasurer is a CPA with Mark Secord CPA. His business experience includes professional work for The Boston Company and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He has been active in community affairs as the past President of the North Country United Way and past Chair of the Northern Lights Federal Credit Union. He earned his Masters of Accountancy degree at Bentley. Mark lives in Lisbon, NH

Mike Norman, Director is vice president and office manager at Horizons Engineering and serves as project manager for several of the company's jobs. He has worked on the expansion of Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, the medical office buildings at Littleton Regional Hospital, and the expansion of Littleton High School. Most recently, he's been working on the site plan for the Littleton Food Co-op. Mike also served as a captain in the Vermont Army National Guard from 1989 through 2006. Mike lives in Littleton, NH.

David Wood, Director has 20 years of experience as the founder and executive director of AHEAD, a nonprofit community development organization in Littleton. He understands the financial challenges of operating a small company. He can read and understand financial statements and is very interested in the marketing aspect of the Co-op, especially regarding the community benefits of the store. As the owner of 14 large rental properties, David also has considerable asset management experience.

David has served as selectman and planning board member in Bethlehem, where he has lived since 1986, and has been a board member of the N.H. Community Development Finance Authority since 1991. He assisted with and strongly advocated for the Co-op's successful HUD Community Development Block Grant application in 2008. He is no stranger to challenges, having developed the Ammonoosuc Green and Mt. Eustis Commons/Beattie House (the old hospital) projects in Littleton.

David has been married for 37 years to an avid organic gardener and has two sons and two grandchildren.

Caroline Elander, Director is originally from Quebec and has lived in the North Country of New Hampshire since 1998. She keeps the books for the Village Book Store in Littleton and has worked managing a green housing cooperative in Ottawa and for the Canadian Department of Labor. She has a business degree from Algonquin College in Ottawa and completed the Certified General Accountant program in Canada.

An avid skier, Caroline lives in Franconia with her husband Walter and their 5-year-old daughter Mei.

Ollie LaFlamme, Director has been the Meat & Seafood Manager of the Co-op since the store opened in May 2009. He spent 15 years working for Butson's Supermarkets in Littleton, Lancaster and Woodsville. He took a hiatus from the grocery industry to work for Franconia Gas before coming to work at the Co-op.

Ollie is a native of Littleton and lives in town with his wife and their two children. He is a member of several local clubs and coaches Little League baseball. He completed a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail in 1995 and also enjoys fishing and gardening.

John Holt, Director is director and lead consultant of Focus North Training and Consulting, which works with small and medium businesses to help them remain competitive. John has a BSME from U.N.H. an MS in manufacturing from Boston University. He is an adjunct faculty member of Business at the Community College of Vermont.

John's professional experience includes work in human resources, quality, engineering, finance, and operations management. He has 10 years of management experience in the U.S. and several European countries.

John returned to northern NH in 2008 to be closer to family and raise his son Harrison in the type of community that can only be found here. He is happily married to Heather and is enjoying the mix of work and his part-time duties taking care of a very energetic one year old.
